Basic features of PowerPoint
Slides
These options can be found in the 'Slides' icon, on the 'Home' or 'Insert' tabs in PowerPoint. They are used to add additional slides to the presentation. The different options mean that the information on the PowerPoint can be displayed in the desired layout.
Design
There are various templates that are available to be chosen from, and there is also the option to change the colour selection in each template. The benefit of having so many different options, is that it is easier to find one that best meets the visual wants of the presenter. This can be accessed from the 'Design' tab in PowerPoint. Another similar feature to this is 'Design Ideas', which is an option found under the 'Design' tab. It gives further ideas that can be used for the slides and each separate option will have customised slide templates to match.
Font
Font style, size, colour and layout can be found on the ‘Home’ tab at the top of screen. Be careful when choosing because it is important to make sure that the audience can read what has been written clearly from anywhere in the room. For example, always consider contrasting colours and a large font size if there is not a large amount of text on the slide. Try to avoid having sentences or paragraphs aligned on the centre of the page because it is unprofessional and is hard to read.
